Privacy Policy
Effective 23 October 2026. Applies to the NavDeals iOS app (including TestFlight beta builds) and navdeals.ca.
NavDeals helps you find deals in Toronto's PATH and walk to them. We collect as little as we can, never sell it, and show no ads. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the control you have.
Your account
You sign in with Apple. Apple tells us:
- A random user ID that identifies your account. Apple never shares your password with us.
- Your name, the first time only, if you choose to share it. Others see it as your first name and last initial on deals you spot.
- An email address, the first time only, if you choose to share it. It may be a private relay address. We keep it only to help you with your account. It is never used for marketing.
We also store a token from Apple so we can disconnect NavDeals from your Apple Account when you delete your account.
Phone or email for members-only deals (optional)
If you add a phone number or email, we use it only to send you NavDeals deals, and only with your consent. We record when you gave consent, on which screen, and the wording you saw, as Canada's anti-spam law (CASL) requires. Every message says it's from NavDeals and includes a way to unsubscribe. You can change or remove it anytime in Profile › Phone or email. Removing it unsubscribes you.
What you do in the app
- Redeemed deals: the deal, its code, when you redeemed it and what you saved. This powers your savings and level.
- Deals you spot: what you post (title, store, price, the store's location and the photo you choose). Spots are public to other users, with your first name and last initial.
- “Still on?” votes: your vote and reason, so the community sees which deals are current.
- Feedback: your answers, plus app version, build, phone model, iOS version, language, theme and the screen you sent it from. Never your location, phone number or email.
Saved deals and your appearance settings stay on your phone.
Location, photos and camera
With your permission, the app uses your location while it's open to show where you are relative to PATH entrances. It stays on your phone and isn't sent to NavDeals. Underground, GPS is usually unavailable, so routing uses fixed entrance points. When you post a deal, the app only sees the one photo you take or pick. You can turn these permissions off anytime in iOS Settings.

If you join the waitlist or take the survey, we store your email (and survey answers) with the page you came from and the time. To prevent abuse, we briefly count requests per IP address. We use your email only to tell you about NavDeals.
Who stores it
We use a few service providers, under contracts that limit how they use your data:
- Supabase: our database and photo storage, in the United States (Oregon).
- Vercel: hosts our servers and this website, in the United States.
- Apple: Sign in with Apple and TestFlight. If you test a beta, Apple shares crash reports and the feedback you send there.
- Mapbox: draws the map. Your phone loads map tiles from Mapbox, which receives technical data such as your IP address and the map area shown, under Mapbox's privacy policy.
Because these providers are in the United States, your information may be accessed there under US law.
What we don't do
- No ads, ad tracking, or tracking across other apps and websites.
- No selling or renting your information.
- No third-party analytics SDKs. App events stay in your phone's system log.
Deleting your data
In the app, go to Profile › Delete account. We disconnect NavDeals from your Apple Account and delete your account, redemptions, votes, feedback link and contact details. Deals you spotted stay up without your name. We keep the consent log (dates and wording, no contact details) as proof of consent under CASL. To delete waitlist or survey data, email info@navdeals.ca.
Your rights
You can ask to see or correct the personal information we hold, or withdraw consent, by emailing us. We reply within 30 days. If you're not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Children
NavDeals isn't directed at children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
When our practices change, we update this page and the effective date. For significant changes, we tell you in the app.
